Ait Oud trial begins

27 May 2008

LIEGE – The trial against Abdallah Ait Oud has begun in Liège in Wallonia. The man has been charged with the kidnapping, confinement, rape and murder of two stepsisters – Nathalie Mahy and Stacy Lemmens – in 2006.

Nathalie and Stacy, respectively 7 and 10 years old, disappeared 9 June, 2006 at night.

They were at a fair in Liège. Their bodies were found following a few weeks of intensive search parties.

Almost two years after the disappearance of the two girls, the trial against the alleged murderer has started amidst lots of attention by the press.

The first day of the trial began with the composition of the jury.

The defendant denies all the charges. He gave a calm, indifferent impression.
