Airport personnel accused of trafficking
4 June 2007
BRUSSELS – Seven employees of Brussels Airport have been arrested for involvement in drug trafficking. RTL and VTM reported this on Saturday afternoon.
The case came to light after police found and confiscated a shipment of 80 kg of cocaine. The seven suspects were arraigned on Friday and questioned all night by the examining magistrate. They reportedly received and stored the incoming drugs and sold them off in small quantities.
The public prosecution department in Brussels has confirmed the report. Brussels Airport said it was unaware of the situation, RTL reported.
The investigation will continue in the coming days as tapped telephone conversations are analysed and homes are searched.
