The tests revealed an ischemia — restriction of blood supply to the cardiac muscle — and Foket is expected to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.
After the six months out Fokek will undergo further tests to see if he can continue playing professionally.
Foket has two caps for Belgium, earning his first call up in 2016.
