27 March 2007

BRUSSELS – No less than 35 percent of girls who chat online are harassed with questions of a sexual nature at one point or another. This has emerged from a survey by research bureau TNS Media.

The survey questioned 547 young people between the ages of 12 and 18. About 26 percent of all young people who chat online have been asked questions of a sexual nature. That percentage is as much as 35 percent of girls. About 83 percent say these questions make them uncomfortable.

Still some 15 percent say they answer the questions.

Some 12 percent of girls say they have been asked to undress or perform sexual acts in front of a webcam.
