BRUSSELS – A serious fire broke out in a pig-breeding farm in Merkplas. The 800 piglets trapped in the pigsty did not survive the fire. The fire also inflicted damage to an adjoining workplace. A tractor, among other things, was also destroyed.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The police are on the spot to investigate.
