CHARLEROI – Almost half of the prostitutes in Charleroi are Belgian women. Most of them are drug addicts or women facing financial difficulties.
The Human Trafficking department of the local police carries out an average of three checks a week in the prostitution district and says that there are no underage women or human trafficking networks active in the area.
“A sort of internal control system seems to be in place among the prostitutes in Charleroi,” says police commissioner Christian Deville.
