BRUSSELS — Two helicopters collided shortly before 3pm in Antwerp on Sunday, injuring three people, one of them seriously.
However, the seriously injured man is not in a life-threatening condition. All three victims were taken to hospital for treatment.
The helicopters collided during take-off at about 10m above the ground at the police station on the d’Herbouvillekaai in the Antwerp port area.
Both helicopters were being operated by Francophone public broadcaster RTBF.
The crew was involved in filming the Belgian Cycling Championship and was to send footage through to RTBF and Flemish commercial broadcaster VTM.
Due to the accident, only the footage from stationary cameras and delayed images from motorbikes were able to be broadcast.
