25 pc of income goes to housing

BRUSSELS – The average Walloon family spends EUR 29,203 each year, while earning an estimated EUR 33,242.

This has emerged from figures from the General Department for Statistics and Economic Information (the former NIS, National Institute for Statistics).

The statistics show that spending has risen 135 percent over the past 30 years and that the average Walloon family spends 26 percent of its income on housing.

Another 15.8 percent of income is spent on food, drink and tobacco.
