In Italy, the son of former Netherlands football star Ruud Gullit has been arrested on drug dealing charges.
The 20-year-old was caught red-handed while passing on a package to another youth in the northern town of Lecco near Lake Como. He was grabbed by the scruff of the neck as soon as he had handed over the marihuana.
Police searched Gullit’s house in Perledo on Lake Como and seized more than 300 grams of soft drugs, as well as a packaging device to divide the marihuana into small plastic bags.
Italian media report that Gullit Junior has no criminal record. He was apparently displaying suspect behaviour in the Lecco area recently, being continuously approached by youths his age.
Former footballer Ruud Gullit was captain of the national team that won the European Cup in 1988 and was also a member of the squad for the 1990 World Cup. He was named European Footballer of the Year in 1987 and World Soccer Player of the Year in 1987 and 1989. He’s currently head coach of Russian Premier League team Terek Grozny in Chechnya.
