Dutch cabinet to cut top state salaries

25 October 2008
THE NETHERLANDS – Deputy Prime Minister Wouter Bos said the maximum will be linked to the company’s involvement in the public sector. Senior officials of the Royal Dutch Mint and Covra, the firm responsible for storing radioactive waste, will see their salaries limited to those of ministers. Other firms, such as Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, the Bank of Dutch Municipalities and Holland Casino, will get separate maximums. The government expects these salaries to drop by several dozen percentage points though they will be allowed to exceed ministerial incomes.
