Schiphol – A Transavia Boeing 737 bound for Ibiza returned to Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport twice Monday.
The flight first ran into problems 20 minutes after takeoff when it hit a falcon, reports the ANP press agency.
It was impossible to tell if the aircraft had been damaged, and the captain turned back as a precaution.
Passengers remained on the plane during a ground inspection, and the airplane took off again an hour later.
However, its de-icing system malfunctioned and the plane again turned back to Schiphol 30 minutes into the flight.
The 148 passengers aboard were allowed to deplane after the second return.
Another Boeing 737 was called into service for the flight, and took off two hours later.
Passengers arrived in Ibiza five and a half hours behind schedule, according to The Aviation Herald.
