Three more held over teacher shooting

30 January 2004

AMSTERDAM — Two boys and a girl were arrested this week in connection with the shooting and killing of deputy headmaster Hans van Wieren at the Terra College in The Hague earlier this month.

The police confirmed on Friday that the two males are suspected of involvement in the supply of the weapon to murder suspect Murat D., aged 17.

They are also accused of helping to hide the handgun after the shooting.

Murat is reported to have confessed to shooting Van Wieren in the school canteen at lunchtime on 13 January.

He fled from the school immediately after the killing and surrendered himself to police later that night. He remains in custody.

The female is a student in Terra College and  is also suspected of involvement in the shooting, the Public Prosecution Office (OM) said without giving details.

They are all under 18.
