Dutch ICT website Webwereld is to expose a fresh privacy leak in a website or public service every day throughout the month of October, starting on Monday. The site says it wants to show that personal details are not always stored securely.
For hackers it’s child’s play to access private information about members of the public, the site claims, “While on the other hand it’s also simple to protect sensitive data properly.”
Webwereld says it receives reports of privacy leaks every day, and has plenty to take it through the month it has dubbed “Leaktober”. Before publishing, the site will warn the organisation suffering the security problem first so they can close the leak.
