Queen Beatrix is more popular with her subjects than in earlier years, according to the fifth Queen’s Day survey carried out by the NOS Dutch public service news broadcaster.
The ‘most popular royals’ list shows that the queen has gained slightly in popularity, seemingly at the expense of her son, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, who has slipped a little in public esteem.
For years, the top three royals have consistently been Crown Princess Máxima at number one, followed by her husband, Willem-Alexander, with the queen coming third. This year however, the queen and her son have swapped places. Princess Máxima remains firmly number one, with over half those questioned, saying she is their favourite.
