AMSTERDAM — A day after a student shot and killed a teacher in The Hague, authorities at another Dutch school seized an air pistol from a 15-year-old female pupil on Wednesday.
The police confirmed that they were questioning the girl, but it remains unclear why she brought the weapon into the school.
Newspaper De Telegraaf reported that teachers at AOC agricultural training collegein Roermond in the south east of the Netherlands heard rumours the girl had a gun in her schoolbag and was calling fellow students over to see it.
When confronted by teachers, she surrendered the air pistol.
The police say they will make a public statement once the questioning of the girl is completed.
On Tuesday 13 January, 49-year-old deputy headmaster Hans van Wieren was shot in the head in the canteen of Terra College in The Hague at about 1pm.
A 17-year-old pupil, who had been earlier suspended for misconduct, allegedly placed a handgun to the teacher’s head and pulled the trigger.
Van Wieren died on Tuesday night about an hour after the suspect surrendered to police.
