7 March 2008

ARNHEM – The court in Arnhem has sentenced a 39-year-old Rotterdam man to life in prison for the murder of activist Louis Sévèke. The sentence is in accordance with the demands from the public prosecution.

The court considered it proven that Marcel T. shot and killed Louis Sévèke on the street in Nijmegen in November 2005. The man has confessed the murder. He said he was acting in revenge for how he had been treated in squatter circles

Experts have described the perpetrator as a highly intelligent narcissist who was well aware of what he was doing. They do not consider mandatory psychiatric treatment necessary. The court followed their recommendations.
