Former judge faces child porn charges

8 January 2004

AMSTERDAM — The public prosecutor believes it has gathered enough evidence to prosecute former Maastricht judge F. F. for possessing child pornography, an Arnhem justice official said on Thursday.

Police allegedly seized videotapes of child pornography in the man’s home in October 2001. He subsequently resigned as vice-president of Maastricht Court and is currently working as an academic at Maastricht University

On request from the chief public prosecutor in Maastricht, the Arnhem prosecution department took over the investigation and it took two years before the inquiry could be completed last month.

But the defence lawyer, R. Wagemans, said he has not yet been informed of the conclusion of the investigation. It is also not yet known when the case will be heard in the Arnhem Court, newspaper De Telegraaf reported.
