AMSTERDAM — Arnhem Court sentenced a former judge on Thursday to a three-month suspended jail term and a EUR 2,500 fine for the possession of child pornography.

An electrician found pornographic discs and videotapes hidden under the floor of the judge’s house in October 2001. The vice president of the Maastricht Court resigned his position and is now working as an academic at Maastricht University.

The resulting investigation took two years before it was finally rounded off at the end of last year. The hearing was held in Arnhem Court to ensure impartiality.

The prosecution had demanded a 15-month jail term, five months of which would be suspended. Allegations that the judge, identified as F. F., had sexually abused his stepson were unproven.
