AMSTERDAM — The fevered minds of Dutch men are running off on the wrong track when it comes to buying sexy and revealing lingerie for their wives or girlfriends, it has been reported.
In fact, Dutch women often exchange the sexy lingerie they are given as Christmas presents by their male partners immediately after the festive season for plainer, less skimpy underwear.
Body Fashion Promotion, an underwear promoter in the Netherlands, said on Monday that although men think they will please and surprise their female partners by buying them racy underwear, their ladies are often not impressed.
“A Dutch man, who is looking for lingerie for his wife or girlfriend, often doesn’t look at what she thinks is nice, but what he would really like to see,” board member and Triumph International director Rob Brand told newspaper De Telegraaf.
Brand said men often choose the colour red, such as a deep claret red: “This apparently seriously appeals to men”. But women think very differently about such lingerie, preferring something less intense instead.
“Definitely in winter, their preference in general is for black,” he said.
So for those men wanting to please, rather than be pleased, you’ve just been given a timely Christmas tip.
