Seven injured as car drives into crowd

A motorist drove his car into a group of people in Steenwijk, the east of the country on Wednesday night. Seven people were brought to hospital with injuries, newspaper De Telegraaf reported. The driver, 27, and a woman passenger in the car were arrested. Police said they received reports of a fight involving about 30 people at 2.10am. Officers went to the scene and witnessed the car driving at high speed into the group standing on the pavement. After the initial impact, some onlookers managed to stop the car and attack the driver. Others assisted the police in ending the melee and arresting the two people in the car.
