8 December 2003

AMSTERDAM — A Dutch couple was killed when their single engine propeller plane crashed in Namibia on Saturday, a local gliding centre reported.

The couple, from the central Dutch town of Ede, was en route from Bitterwasser to the Namibian capital Windhoek when the Cesna 172 crashed shortly after take-off.

The two passengers and the German pilot were killed instantly. The cause of the accident is not yet known, news agency ANP reported.

The Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry officially confirmed the deaths on Monday afternoon.
