Crying children lead to dead woman

10 March 2008

TERNEUZEN – Police found the lifeless body of a 25-year-old woman in her home in Terneuzen on Saturday afternoon. Officers came to check out the situation when neighbours reported that the woman’s two children, a 2-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy, had been standing in front of the window crying for some time.

Officers found the body of the dead woman when they entered the home on the Nieuwdiepstraat, they announced Sunday. The spokesperson says a crime has not been ruled out, but that the woman may have died of natural causes. An autopsy on Monday is expected to uncover the cause of death.

The children’s father was not at home at the time but reported to police on Saturday evening. "He is not regarded as a witness or suspect at the moment," the spokesperson said.

Police carried out a neighbourhood investigation on Saturday but did not uncover any clues.
