ROTTERDAM – All the teams taking part in Roparun 2008, the longest non-stop relay race in the world, have arrived in Rotterdam on time.
The 17th Roparun (ROtterdamPArisRUN) began in Paris on Saturday, with 6,500 participants running a total of 530 kilometres to raise money for charity. The winning team and the amount they collected for cancer patients will be announced at the end of this month.
Each team consists of eight people running in relays. Every runner completes the equivalent of one and a half marathons. This year’s event was more strenuous than usual due to the warm weather, but they all made it safely to Rotterdam after receiving treatment along the route.
