Security Council’s “five” back nuclear-free zone in Mid East

The five permanent members of the UN Security Council – Russia, the United States, China, Britain and France – have backed a proposal to establish a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East. The joint statement was released during the nonproliferation conference currently under way in New York.
