Russia calls for Palestinian unity

Russia urges the Gaza rulers Hamas to release the Israeli army Corporal Gilad Shalit and move towards renewed unity with Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization. President Medvedev told this to the Hamas political leader Khaled Mashal at a meeting with him in Damascus on Tuesday.
