War chronicles: day-by-day. May 9

On May 9th 1945 troops of the First Ukrainian Front carried out a sweeping nighttime manoeuvre by tank and infantry units, crushed enemy resistance and liberated the Czechoslovak capital city Prague from the German invaders at 4 a.m. The first to enter the city were the vanguard units of the guards tank armies of Generals Leliushenko and Rybalko.
