War chronicles: day-by-day. May 6

On May 6th 1945 the advancing troops of the First Belorussian Front pushed forward northwest and west of Brandenburg. In an attempt to contain the advance, separate Nazi groups opened sporadic fire at road junctions and populated areas. The Soviet forces quickly crushed those pockets of resistance. Fourteen assault guns were captured.
