Documents released by WikiLeaks reveal that cash-hungry Iceland asked for a 1 billion loan from the United States in 2008 to stop its economic collapse. Diplomatic cables published last week by the secret-spilling site include an October 2008 letter from Iceland’s central bank governor, David Oddsson, to Timothy Geithner.
