Ups and Downs of gas demand

Global gas production fell by about 3.5% last year, hitting its record lows in several decades. Analysts cite various reasons, the main ones being a sharp drop in demand and tougher competition between different types of fuel. Some countries are stepping up liquefied gas production, seeing it as more competitive than gas transit through pipelines.
