UN Security Council condemns Caucasus bomb

The UN Security Council on Friday strongly condemned a suicide car bomb attack in the Russian Caucasus, calling it “a heinous act of terrorism”.

The bomb in a market in the North Ossettia city of Vladikavkaz killed at least 17 people and wounded more than 100, according to regional authorities.

Security Council members “condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that occurred in Vladikavkaz,” said a statement read by Ertugrul Apakan, the Turkish ambassador who is current president of the council.

“They expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the victims of this heinous act of terrorism and to their families,” he added.
