Siberia coalmine deaths at 52

The known deaths after two methane explosions in the Raspadskaya coalmine late on Saturday and early on Sunday have climbed to 52. Two hundred and 76 mineworkers were safely led out. Ninety nine of them are receiving attention for injuries. Thirty eight other people remain trapped a half kilometre below ground, and there is no contact with them.
