The crew of a North-Korean-flagged freighter have freed themselves and their ship from captivity with Somali pirates. The effort involved violence and left up to nine pirates dead. One crewmember is seriously injured. Reports about this have been coming from maritime authorities in East Africa and naval sources in the European Union.
