A Russian plane carrying 46 passengers and crew made an emergency landing in Siberia on Saturday after a technical fault was discovered in one of its three engines, an official said.
The Tupolev-154 took off from Barnaul in Siberia and was headed to Norilsk in northern Russia, but was forced to land at Abakan, also in Siberia, at 0325 GMT, Irina Butenko, spokeswoman for the regional emergency ministry, told AFP.
The plane was already a scheduled stop at Abakan, but the touchdown was designated an emergency after the engine default was discovered, Butenko said.
The plane made the 40-minute journey from Barnaul using just two engines, she added.
None of the passengers, including 10 children and nine crew members, were hurt, said Butenko, adding the cause of the glitch was not immediately known.
Former Polish president Lech Kaczynski was killed when the Tupolev-154 he was traveling in crashed in Russia in April 2010.
Two Russian-made planes have crashed within the last month, leaving more than 50 people dead.
