Mumbai paralyzed by engine drivers’ strike

Engine drivers in Mumbai have gone on hunger strike, putting India’s most populous city on the brink of transport collapse. About 80% of trains carrying some 70 million commuters per day have been cancelled. The railway is main means of conveyance in a city choking with heavy traffic jams. The strikers are demanding higher wages.
