Laura Chinchilla sworn in as Costa Ricas first female president

Laura Chinchilla was sworn in as the first female president of Costa Rica. The inauguration ceremony took place in the capital city of San Jose on Saturday. Ms. Chinchilla, who represents the ruling Social-Democratic party of National Liberation, won the presidential election on 7 February, 2010 with 46.8 percent of votes to become the country’s 49 th president.
