A split in Japan’s ruling coalition has caused the resignation of country’s Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. Opposed to Tokyo’s military cooperation with the United States, the Social-Democratic Party decided to quit Hatoyama’s government on May 30th, thus causing a further fall in its public approval ratings.
