Icebreaker hurries to rescue explorers

Russia ’s Rossiya nuclear-powered icebreaker is cutting its way through 2-meter-thick ice to evacuate researchers from a drifting polar station in the western Arctic. The ice is so thick that now and then back motion has to be used, Vladimir Sokolov, head of the 50-member rescue mission, has told reporters.
