EON says it has sold Gazprom stake for 3.4 billion euros

Germany’s EON said Wednesday it had sold its 3.5-percent stake in Russian gas giant Gazprom to Russian bank Vnesheconombank and on the open market for a total of 3.4 billion euros (4.4 billion dollars).

It said that it sold a 2.7-percent stake to state-owned Vnesheconombank and the remaining 0.8 percent on the stock market. The sale is part of the German firm’s plan to sell 15 billion euros’ worth of assets by 2013.
