Russian security forces were working to deactivate a suspected car bomb in the southern city of Stavropol Thursday after being alerted by locals, Russian news agencies reported.
“There is a dead body in the car, covered in explosives and wires. Explosives experts and federal security service employees are at the scene,” a policeman told RIA Novosti news agency from the scene.
The Stavropol region borders the restive Northern Caucasus regions where dozens of insurgent attacks have occured in recent years. No further details were immediately available.
