Two final bodies recovered from Spanair crash site

MADRID – Two final bodies were recovered Thursday from the crash site of the Spanair plane at Madrid airport, rescue officials said, bringing the search action at the site to a close.

Benjamin Olivares, head of the airport fire department, said the victims were those of an infant and an adult.

The official death toll of the crash stands at 153.

Nineteen passengers were hospitalised with severe injuries, including life-threatening burns. The flight had 164 passengers and nine crew members on board the MD-80 plane which crashed on take-off on Wednesday.
