GSTAAD – A new hiking route in Gstaad in the Bernese Highlands, aimed at raising awareness of the region’s moor lands, has been inaugurated.
The path traverses Sparenmoos-Neuenberg above the village of Zweisimmen which the Swiss consider a "moor landscape of great beauty and national importance".
Gstaad’s tourist office says the concept of the route aims to highlight the area’s charms "in a sustainable manner".
Hikers have the opportunity to discover what makes a moor land a unique habitat.
Gstaad has also introduced a "Treasure Map" for families to help them explore the 484-hectare area.
