FEUSISBERG – Swiss central defender Patrick Mueller Wednesday cast doubts on his inclusion in the team for the opening game of Euro 2008.

"I cannot say I am 100 percent ready. After the season I’ve seen I think other players could be in a better position," Mueller said.

"I’ve played a few friendlies. I don’t think that’s enough for a Euro match."

Mueller’s season has suffered following a knee operation in December, but he could still be considered for Saturday’s tournament opener against Czech Republic in Basle.

Defender Ludovic Magnin told Swiss television he hoped the 31-year-old Lyon defender would be fit for the match.

"He is very experienced and brings something to the team that’s lacking. I bet he will be playing against the Czech Republic Saturday and I hope it’s not a bet I’m going to lose."

The team also has a question mark over midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta who has an ankle injury.

Manager Koebi Kuhn finally joined up with the squad after his wife was given the all-clear after being taken to hospital Monday.

He said he believed Mueller should be fine but that Barnetta may be missing from Saturday’s line-up.
