MANILA — The Philippines will deport a Swiss man recently released from jail after serving four years in prison for illegal drug possession, an immigration official said Friday.

Immigration chief Marcelino Libanan said Bruno Schachner, 39, will be sent back to Switzerland and will no longer be allowed to return to the Philippines.

"He is now in our blacklist of undesirable aliens," he said. "He is banned from re-entering the Philippines."

Schachner was sentenced to a maximum of four years in prison after he was found guilty of illegal drug possession in September 2004 by a local court in Angeles City, 75 kilometres north of Manila.
