Juergen Klinsmann wants to be measured by Germany’s showing at the upcoming World Cup but is ready in principle to continue as coach."Working with this generation of players and the staff is a lot of fun," Klinsmann said in an interview with Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa."We want to have success, want to win matches. But we also want to see the players develop, become better. I want to be measured by the tournament but I also want to soak in the experience of the tournament. And then I will think about my personal future."Klinsmann, who won 108 caps for Germany highlighted by titles at the 1990 World Cup and Euro 1996, was a surprise choice as team coach in August 2004 after the resignation of Rudi Voeller.His contract runs until the end of the World Cup in Germany which runs June 9-July 9.Klinsmann started his job by announcing that he wants to lead Germany to a fourth World Cup title. But the team around captain Michael Ballack is not rated a top favourite and it remains open how far the team must go to make Klinsmann continue – and the ruling body DFB renew his deal.Klinsmann, 41, said "I am gone if we crash out early."DFB bosses Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder and Theo Zwanziger are set to renew Klinsmann’s contract if he reaches the quarter-finals or the round of 16.Klinsmann told dpa that "you must also see what kind of consequences a new contract will have on my family. There are a lot of issues I must think about."Klinsmann came under criticism in the World Cup buildup for continuing to live in the United States and only coming to Germany before matches.He has changed structures around the national team which now has a general manager in Oliver Bierhoff, a psychologist and a team of American fitness trainers.In addition, Klinsmann has brought in many young players he would like to continue working with."The philosophy has not changed. We want to make every player better. I expect the same from myself. I want to improve as a coach. And there is no real limit for that," said Klinsmann.
