Israel continues Gaza offensive

The Israeli military says its soldiers killed ten gunmen after entering Gaza City this morning.

Palestinian sources say three people were killed and dozens injured when Israeli soldiers attacked the village of Khuzaa, to the east of the southern town of Khan Yunis.

Palestinian doctors say many of the injuries are similar to those caused by white phosphorous which, according to international law, cannot be used against civilians.

Israel has denied using the substance and says the weapons it uses remain within the framework of international law.

On Saturday, Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets warning of an escalation of the offensive and advising Gaza residents to keep their distance from Hamas. More than 850 people have died since the start of the offensive on 27 December.
