16 March 2008

Chiasso, Switzerland (dpa) – A German lorry driver is to appear in court accused of violence after allegedly trying to force his way across the border from Italy to Switzerland at Ponte Chiasso Saturday.

The man, in his 50s from the German city of Munster, allegedly tried to avoid customs but was halted, according to the Swiss news agency ATS.

He was led into Italian customs where it is claimed he overturned a desk, destroying a computer. He is due to appear before a judge in Como, Italy, in May.
