Idar-Oberstein, Germany (dpa) - Thieves in southern Germany made off with an entire forest, police said Tuesday.
The theft was discovered by the 56-year-old owner when he went to check on the trees in the Hunsrueck region south of Frankfurt.
The man was shocked to find they had disappeared over an area of 2,500 square metres - about half the size of a football pitch.
Police said the thieves appeared to be professionals who used different cutting devices to chop down the fir trees and drive away with them.
