Berlin (dpa) - The German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) reached an agreement Wednesday with four lawyers representing athletes who were part of the former East Germany's state-run doping scheme.
Under the deal, 167 victims of the doping programme in the German Democratic Republic will receive a one-off compensation payment of 9,250 euros (12,250 dollars) for personal suffering.
The DOSB is the legal successor to the former East German National Olympic Committee.
The money will be paid out before the end of February 2007 with the DOSB contributing 1.07 million of the 1.55 million euros from revenue put aside for the cultural programme for the 2006 World Cup in Germany but which was never spent.
