08/03/2010Finland's Metso says to cut 115 jobs in Germany

Finnish engineering group Metso said Monday it would cut 115 jobs at its metal recycling equipment business in Duesseldorf, Germany, as part of restructuring measures to improve competitiveness.

"The primary reason for the lay-offs is that the demand for metal recycling equipments is weak due to the low scrap metal prices and decrease in steel production in Europe and North America," Metso said in a statement.

Metso's metal recycling business in Duesseldorf currently employs around 500 people, and some 800 people globally, it said.
