An exhibit at Madrid’s cultural center is part of the city’s program to fight exploitation of women.

25 September 2008

MADRID -- The city council's chief of social services and family issues, Concepción Dancausa, led the opening on Tuesday of an exhibition from photographer Isabel Muñoz entitled “Esclavas sexuales” (Sex Slaves). The event took place on International Day Against the Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Women, observed on Tuesday.

The exhibition, showing at Madrid's Conde Duque cultural center until Sunday, is a series of photos taken in South East Asia by Muñoz to expose the difficulties facing young girls forced to work in the sex trade.

The show was organised by the Madrid City Hall as part of its plans to combat sexual exploitation of women.

At the event Dancausa demanded that the central government create a plan against human slavery.
